BACKGROUND
Department of Surgery Hospital Sultan Ismail is one that operates under the Department of Administration Hospital Sultan Ismail Johor Bahru, which began operations in 2006. Department of Surgery Hospital Sultan Ismail has four main sections surgical outpatient clinic or Outpatient Clinic, Burns Care Unit (Urk), Male Surgical Ward and Female Surgical Ward. Department of Surgery Hospital Sultan Ismail is the Department of Surgery for adult patients. And merima referral hospitals, clinics, general medical unit of the Southern Region of Peninsular Malaysia.
Clinic surgeon known as Treatment Following Surgery Clinic (SFUC), is the Outpatient Clinic, located diaras 3, It is a reference clinic, such as thyroid disease (endocrine), breast disease, gallstone disease (cholelithiasis) disease installed wind (hernia), disease haemorrhoid (piles), and received scald or burn the patient is referred from hospital hospitals and clinics. This clinic is a clinic follow-up treatment after surgery. However, this surgery clinic only accepts cases of adult patients aged 12 years and above. In 2009

Burn Care Services (Urk) was established under the Department of Surgery. Burns Care Unit is located in the main building level 5 Hospital Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur It involves treatment for adult patients only fire. (Urk) has 10 beds, four beds for acute cases (Ventilated bed) 6 beds for normal cases. This unit is classified as a critical care as well as prevent cross-infection which is very important Nosocomial avoided in patients with burns. Burns Care Unit (Urk) is also the referral center for cases of fire in the Southern Region of Peninsular Malaysia.
Surgical ward is divided into two, namely the Male Surgical Ward and Female Surgical Ward, located on level 6, ward accommodate patients who will undergo surgery and after surgery and also where patients receive care, treatment and better screening. Department of Surgery
also carry out surgical procedures. Anesthetist elective total body (GA) in Theatre on Tuesday and Thursday and Local Elective Surgery Anesthetist (LA) was conducted in Day Care Unit (Day Care). Day Care Unit also memjalankan procedures Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGDS), Colonoskopi, Sigmoidoscopy.

THE SERVICES
Surgical Ward: –

  1. Each patient will be efficient, accurate, comfortable, friendly and prompt.
  2. For new patients will be placed dikatil within 10 minutes, the doctor will make a thorough examination within 1 hour.
  3. Each patient will be examined by a specialist at least once a day.

Doctors Rounding Schedule

  1. Morning: 7:30 am – 8:30 am
  2. Afternoon: 4.30 pm – 5.00 pm
  3. Night – when needed


Burn Care Unit: –

Type of services provided is treatment services to victims of fire injuries at an early stage so that continuous follow-up treatment.

Day Care Unit: –
Service conducted at Day Care Unit is as Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGDS), Colonoskopi, Sigmoidoscopy.

Outpatient Treatment: –

Treatment in surgical outpatient clinic, receive referral cases from any Expert Zone District hospital Selantan.Seorang Endokrine of Aminah Hospital (visit) will be at the clinic on Wednesday last week of each month.

Surgery:-
Department of Surgery Elective Surgery Anesthetist also do whole body (GA) and Elective Surgery Local Anesthetist (LA) and Emergency Surgery.

Surgery Clinic

  1. Inspection Room – there are 12 comfortable patient examination rooms
  2. Procedures Room provided to conduct haemorrhoid banding, Tru Cut, dressing procedures, I & D, Secondery Suturing and others.
  3. Blood taking Room.
  4. New referral cases time frame to get an appointment is less than 14 working days and emergency cases are referred directly to the doctors.

Burns Care Unit (Urk)
Facilities are available at Burn Care Unit is as below:

  1. Assessment room used to evaluate the patient.
  2. 10 isolation rooms where there are four isolation rooms equipped with breathing apparatus (“ventilator”) and six isolation rooms without ventilator for more stable cases.
  3. Hydrotherapy Room used for patients with burns, where the patient is immersed and bathed dressing procedures is performed.
  4. Rehabilitation Room is provided for convenience of patients undergoing body exercises activities to optimize disablities experienced.

Day Care Unit
The Day Care Unit is provided with 3 procedure rooms:

  1. Colonoscopy Room with tools
  2. OGDS Room with tools
  3. Sigmoidoscopy Room with tools


Activities

  • Surgery Department has organized several activities for continuous education such as Basic Suturing Workshop and a few other sessions on Wednesday in the 6A or 6B seminar rooms.
  • Working hand in hand with the Breast Cancer Support Group to help breast cancer patients and help reduce their suffering.
  • Organize social activities aimed at strengthening the relationship between the members of the department such as the Surgical Night and Family Day.
