ORTHOPAEDIC

BACKGROUND
Orthopaedic department has started operation from june 2004, At that time there were only outpatient services only. Unfortunately, due to internal problems, the Hospital has been shut down for a while. In 2006, the Director General of the Ministry of Health Malaysia has ordered the hospital to operate in stages. On February 16, 2006 all orthopaedic services have been expanded for inpatients and elective surgery and in October 2006, emergency surgery has started.
Hospital Sultan Ismail service area covers Masai, Pasir Gudang, ulu oysters, Pandan and Tebrau. The department is also a referral centre to other departments in the Sultan Ismail Hospital, Policlinics and Health Centre, nearby Kota Tinggi Hospital, Mersing Hospital and also other cases that requires subspecialties in the field of orthopaedic oncology.
There is also a referral cases from other Southern Regions such as Malacca, Seremban and Kuantan. The Department also provides arthroplasty, sports medicine, spine surgery and orthopaedic paediatric services. In addition, Hospital Sultan Ismail Orthopaedic Department also carries out monthly “visit” to Mersing Hospital and Kota Tinggi Hospital
